MENTAL HEALTH AND ARTS WELLNESS CONFERENCE CENTERED AROUND BLACK/AFRICAN AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THEIR EXPERIENCES
The Rite of Joy Conference aims to help its patrons better understand themselves and their culture through discourse, education, and interactive art experiences. We feature the work of speakers who are humanities professionals, artists, and advocates from the consumer, clinical, and religious communities who are engaged in work that increases community well-being. Studying the culture and its history creates pathways toward increased communal and individual mental well-being, the preservation of the arts, and the protection of cultural capital. During the conference, we explore innovative strategies toward wellness to combat the proliferation of trauma and stigma while discussing solutions to the damage they cause.
